CUSTOM SOFT CASES AND SEWN GOODS

Soft cases, laptop cases, pouches, sample cases, duffel and transit bags, covers, backpacks, straps, and foam inserts, sewn to your drawing in nylon, canvas, vinyl, and leather. Every one of them is built for a specific piece of equipment. Send us the equipment or the print and we quote one unit or a production run.

soft cases & pouches

Cases, covers, carriers, pouches, and fitted interiors, cut for one specific piece of equipment. This is the work the shop is built around, from a single padded pouch to a full carry system for an instrument that cannot take a hit.

When weight, storage, and carry matter more than crush resistance. A padded soft case protects against impact, abrasion, and weather at a fraction of the weight, collapses flat when empty, and stores in places a hard case will not fit. Equipment that has to survive being stacked under other freight still wants a hard shell, and for that we build the fitted interior instead.

Ship us the equipment and we pattern to the actual item, cables, handles, mounted accessories and all. If you cannot part with it, send dimensioned drawings plus photos of how it gets handled. The dimensions get us close, but knowing where someone grabs it and what sticks out is what makes the case usable.

Zippers, hook and loop, buckles, drawstrings, and flap closures, chosen against the load and how often the case is opened. Access is the bigger decision. A case opened twenty times a shift wants a different opening than one opened at the start of a deployment, and we design around whichever one you actually do.

Yes. Padded dividers, cut foam cavities, sewn pockets, elastic retainers, and removable panels all get built in. Tell us what goes in the case and how it needs to come out, since organization is what stops equipment from beating on itself in transit.

bags, packs, & duffels

Duffels, transit bags, backpacks, and equipment carriers for gear that gets moved, dropped, and moved again. Built for weight and abuse, not for a retail shelf.

Duffel bags, transit bags, backpacks, laptop and electronic equipment carriers, cable bags, battery bags, and utility equipment bags. Most of it goes to military and defense customers, and all of it is made to a customer drawing rather than pulled from a catalog.

Yes. Send the specification and the revision level. We buy to the callout and sew to it. If a line on the print will build poorly or drive cost without adding durability, we say so before cutting and you decide.

That comes down to material weight, stitch pattern, and hardware, and we spec all three against your load. Tell us the loaded weight, how it gets carried, and how often. Under-specced webbing and undersized hardware are what fail first, and both are cheap to get right at design stage.

Usually. Ship us the bag. We pattern from the physical item, and it is often the fastest path to a quote when no drawing exists. We will also point out the spots where the original design is the reason it wore out.

equipment covers

Covers for antennas, vehicles, cargo, and equipment that sits outside and has to keep working. Sized to the equipment, with the closures and tie-downs where your crew actually needs them.

Antenna covers and antenna bags, military cargo covers, vehicle covers, motorcycle covers, and protective covers for equipment in storage and transit.

That is most of this work. Antennas, mounted equipment, and loaded vehicles rarely pattern from a drawing alone. Send photos with dimensions or let us measure the equipment, and we cut a pattern to that shape.

Coated and treated fabrics for weather, heavier nylon and canvas for abrasion and handling, and vinyl where the surface needs to shed water and wipe down. Fabric weight is a tradeoff against how often the cover gets pulled on and off, so tell us the handling routine along with the exposure.

Depends on availability and quantity. Standard military colorways and common patterns are usually sourceable. Send the color standard or a physical swatch and we will confirm against a real sample before a production run.

straps & carry systems

Shoulder straps, handles, harnesses, and tie-downs, made on our own strap makers. These are the parts that take the load, and they are the parts customers usually replace first when someone else made them.

On their own. We produce straps, webbing assemblies, and handles as standalone components for customers who assemble in house or need replacements for equipment already in the field.

Nylon webbing in a range of widths and weights, plus metal and plastic hardware including buckles, snaps, dees, grommets, and rivets. If you are locked to a specific hardware part number, we buy the part number.

Yes. Shoulder harnesses, chest rigs, and mounted carry systems for equipment that has to move with a person. Tell us the loaded weight, the wear position, and whether it goes over armor or a flight suit, since that changes the geometry more than anything else.

Yes. Send the failed strap and the mating hardware or the equipment it attaches to. We pattern from the original and we will tell you what failed, because it is usually the stitch pattern or an undersized buckle rather than the webbing.

foam inserts & interiors

Cut foam that holds equipment in one place. Inserts for hard cases, padded liners for soft cases, and dividers cut to the exact tool, instrument, or assembly going into them.

Polyurethane, polyethylene, and XLPE. Each one behaves differently under repeated loading and impact, so the choice depends on the weight of the equipment and how often the case gets opened. We will tell you which one fits your part rather than defaulting to the cheapest sheet.

No. Ship us the equipment and we cut to the actual item, which is the more accurate route anyway. If you have a CAD package or a dimensioned drawing, we will work from that instead.

Yes. Send the case, or the make and model with the interior dimensions, along with what goes inside it. We cut the foam to fit both.

Yes, and it usually should be. A cut foam core inside a sewn nylon or canvas shell gives you impact protection and a carry system in one piece, and it is often lighter and cheaper than a hard case doing the same job.

custom products

Work that does not fit a category. Holsters, knife sheaths, badge holders, leather labels, wax canvas bags, custom leather goods, and one-off pieces built for a single person or a single job. This is where the shop started in 1971 and it never stopped.

Yes. Alongside the contract manufacturing work, we build individual pieces. Holsters, sheaths, badge holders, bags, and repairs to leather goods worth saving all come through the shop.

Heavy tooling leather, lightweight and garment grade, and exotics. We tool, stitch, and emboss in house, on tools the founder has been using since 1971.

Yes. Department badge holders, unit gear, branded leather labels, and small batch equipment bags are regular work. We embroider, heat transfer, and emboss in house, so the branding does not go to a third party.

Bring in or send what you have: the item that needs a case, a sketch, a photo, or the worn out original. We work from any of them. Walk-ins are welcome at the Melbourne shop.
